Rodina (Motherland) is a Russian nationalist political party originally created in 2003 around Dmitry Rogozin as an electoral bloc and later re-established as a party. In 2015 it was led by Alexei Zhuravlev. On March 22, 2015 Rodina organized the International Russian Conservative Forum in St. Petersburg, which brought European far-right and neo-Nazi parties together with Russian nationalist groups, including the Russian Imperial Movement. Fyodor Biryukov, a member of Rodina’s political council, described the forum to the press as “the first stone laid in the foundation of the new world order.”
The forum is a frequently cited example of Russian efforts to build an international network of far-right allies in Europe following the 2014 annexation of Crimea.
