Assange granted bail, but Sweden appeals

Lawyers for Swedish prosecutors immediately appealed a British judge’s decision, announced Tuesday, to release Julian Assange on bail. Assange’s wealthy backers, who include Bianca Jagger and U.S. filmmaker Michael Moore, were scrambling to come up with the funds to meet his $380,000 bail. Britain’s High Court said it would hear the appeal within 48 hours.
