Despite no specific foreign policy agendas announced by the Trump campaign, after a delegate for Ted Cruz introduced an amendment to arm Ukraine against Russian efforts to seize the region.
JD Gordon led the effort for the Trump team to push back on this effort. In the end, the party adopted a toothless version of the amendment. Nobody initially claims responsibility for this action but Gordon admitted in March 2017 to leading the effort.
